Sunflower Lookouts
An original bird sketchbook page in oil pastel and mixed media: a black-capped bird clings upside down to a sunflower head while a dark-eyed junco keeps watch from a blue rock below. Warm ochre, rust and lilac strokes move freely across the page, raw and full of life, the way a page looks when the birds come faster than the plan. This is a real page cut from my A3 Moleskine sketchbook, signed and dated, and the only one of its kind.
