The Hummingbird Queen

A girl in a pale blue gown with lace wings holds a bright blue feather, surrounded by hummingbirds, a large lavender bloom, and a small child reaching up toward her. Ribbons, beads, and vintage floral cloth complete the royal garden scene. Created for The Imagined Bookcover, an art challenge about designing a cover for a children's book. The original is completely stitched by hand, without machine sewing, from vintage and reclaimed fabrics including clothing, feed sacks, and antique quilts, with buttons, beads, and other collected embellishments.
