Paper Chain Planes

Yarn, lace, buttons, and a checkerboard ground give the piece a playful, stitched-together energy. Created for The Imagined Bookcover, an art challenge about designing a cover for a children's book. The original is completely stitched by hand, without machine sewing, from vintage and reclaimed fabrics including clothing, feed sacks, and antique quilts, with buttons, beads, and other collected embellishments.
