Birds in Gouache

My gouache birds are a celebration of color, pattern, and the incredible variety found in the bird world.

Each bird is placed within its own colorful still life, surrounded by flowers, patterned fabrics, vases, plants, and everyday objects that create a little world around it. I love playing with the relationship between the bird and its surroundings, using unexpected colors and playful details to create a scene that sits somewhere between the natural world and my imagination.
